Steampunk themed acrylic painting
I have been having fun exploring the Steampunk genre. Although Steampunk is very dark and forboding, I have put my own lighter and more whimsical spin on it.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I have created this site for my clients to view a sampling of my work. Please contact me with questions or to schedule a consultation.
I have been painting murals professionally for almost twenty years. In that time, I have completed over a thousand projects, both large and small. I love the diversity in the various projects. One week I might be painting tiny fairies flitting among whimsical flowers. The next week I might be high up on scaffolding, creating undersea worlds or unknown regions in space.
I paint murals, unique accessories, decorative painting, children's art, and furniture for both commercial and residential customers. Although I am based in Atlanta, I travel to sites all over the United States. I work closely with designers, builders, home owners, and businesses to create the perfect look. I have a great passion for designing unique painted spaces and would love to share it with you.
There are several steps involved in designing a mural or custom piece of furniture or art. Unlike many businesses where a client can get an estimate over the phone, planning custom artwork can be a time-consuming team effort.
First, I will have an initial consultation with the client over the phone to discuss the needs of the client. At that time, I will schedule an on site meeting with the client. If interior designers are part of the plan, they should be included at this meeting.
At the on site consultation, I will view the space to be painted and brainstorm with the client and/or designer to come up with ideas for the mural. As we chat, I often start sketching. I have found that a quick picture is truly worth a thousand words.
You will also be able to see my extensive portfolio during this meeting. As you turn the pages, ideas start to flow and soon one or more ideas will begin to crystallize. I usually take photos of the space, record measurements, and begin to come up with a plan for the room.
Depending on the size and scope of the project, I will often leave you with a ballpark figure of how much the project will cost. You will receive a detailed written estimate shortly by e-mail, fax, or post. However, there are also times when I need to do research on the subject matter. Some clients require sketches along with the estimate. These are available in pencil, pen and ink, or full color renderings. Although the initial consultation is free (in the metro Atlanta area only), there is a fee for the sketches. Ask me for prices.
After all the research and renderings are complete, I will provide you with a complete estimate of the projet. Unless you make changes or additions to the project as the work progresses, this estimate will be your final total.
Pricing is based on several variables: size, intricacy of subject matter, surface material, etc. I hope you will understand why I cannot provide phone estimates.
Projects outside the Metro Atlanta area: I will be delighted to come to your home or place of business to discuss your painting projects. There is a trip charge for this service. Please contact me personally for details.

Getting Started
I began painting professionally in a rather round about way. I always enjoyed art and took classes throughout grade school, high school, and college. I was lucky enough to study with Woody Ishmael at Troy State University for a while. However, as much as I enjoyed painting, it never occurred to me that I could make a living at something that was so much fun. I ended up getting a degree in Speech Language Pathology. I should have known something was up because my favorite part of the job was designing art for games and my classroom! When I was nine months pregnant with my daughter, I decided to paint her room. I created a whimsical jungle that covered the entire room. I had a blast doing it. Within a year, I was painting full time and have never looked back!
